Petition against airline passenger duty increase
Do you realise that a large proportion of what you pay for a holiday goes straight to the government in taxes? Sometimes more than half of the airfare is tax on fuel, passengers, airlines, etc under the excuse to offset carbon emission.
AIRLINE PASSENGER DUTY will increase by up to 112% in November 2010. At a time when the airline industry is suffering, this move will penalise holidaymakers when disposable income is falling. This Government has continually penalised the airline and holiday industry on the basis that they are doing it to help the environment, something any normal person will realise is not true.
APD already raises £2 billion annually, and is obvious that the Government is not using this money to help the environment or the travel industry, but instead sees airline passengers and holiday makers in the same way as it sees motorists, i.e. another opportunity to tax the British public.
As a responsible Travel Agent who constantly strives to provide value for money holidays, we urge our clients to sign the attached petition http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/APDIncrease/ which has already had 13,000 signatories. Whether you travel with Gadabouts or not, please do sign and send it on to your friends and colleagues.
Happy Travelling!
